Boone Speedway - Boone
Experience a week filled with racing and more at the IMCA Super Nationals at the Boone Speedway. Known as “Iowa’s Action Track,” the 1/4-mile high-banked dirt oval brings racers from across the world to compete for cash prizes. Held in September, the event's races include divisions for Modifieds, Hobby Stocks, Stock Cars, Late Models, Northern SportMods, Sport Compacts and Mod Lites. The speedway also holds weekly races throughout the summer, including their Saturday Night Series weekly races that start in April and run through August.

Hawkeye Downs Speedway - Cedar Rapids
For a fun Friday outing, head to Hawkeye Downs Speedway to enjoy a night at the races. One of two asphalt racetracks in Iowa, the Cedar Rapids raceway roars with activity every weekend May through August. Visitors can see everything from Hornets and Hobby Stocks to Sports Mods, Legends and Late Models.
Adams County Speedway - Corning
With a schedule that boasts a wide variety of classes and events, the Adams County Speedway’s NASCAR-sanctioned dirt track makes for a thrilling destination. Races include everything from SLMR Late Model Series and Super Late Models to compacts, hobby stocks, stock cars and more in Corning.
Winneshiek Raceway - Decorah
A hidden gem in the world of dirt track racing, Winneshiek County’s IMCA-sanctioned track in Decorah is home to thrilling races April through August, featuring various USRA divisions and drivers from across the country.
Knoxville Raceway - Knoxville
Though originally built for horse racing, the Knoxville Raceway has since come to be known as the “Sprint Car Capital of the World” and is a must-visit for race enthusiasts. From April through September, the track hosts weekly sprint car races on the half-mile dirt track. Then, 25,000 visitors and drivers from around the world flood the town every August for the Knoxville Nationals, recognized as sprint car racing’s most prestigious event. The excitement kicks off in August with the 360 Sprint Car Division followed by the main race between the 410 Sprint Car Division competitors. Catch late models racing around the track during the annual Lucas Oil Late Model Nationals event in September.
Mason City Motor Speedway - Mason City
Experience the thrill of dirt track racing in Mason City. The speedway’s 1/3-mile semi-banked oval track hosts weekly USRA races May through October. The races are often accompanied by family-friendly activities and the opportunity to meet the drivers.
Maquoketa Speedway - Maquoketa
While Maquoketa is known for its peaceful outdoor recreation, it’s also home to an exciting dirt track. Stop by for weekly races that occur from April to October to see various classes and cars such as IMCA divisions and nostalgic stock cars.
Iowa Speedway - Newton
Known as “The Fastest Short Track on the Planet,” the Iowa Speedway is home to some of the state’s most premier racing events. The state-of-the-art 7/8-mile tri-oval track in Newton is welcoming Iowa’s first NASCAR Cup Series race in 2024, and it’s expected to be one of the most highly anticipated events on the 2024 schedule. The sport’s best drivers will travel to Iowa from across the world as they compete to advance to the Cup Series Playoffs. The action will begin in June with the Iowa Speedway’s 17th ARCA Menards Series followed by the Xfinity Series race. The Cup Series race headlines the following weekend.
The Iowa Speedway is also home to the Hy-Vee IndyCar race weekend held every July. It offers a blend of world-class live music and thrilling races. The fun kicks off with Free Family Friday followed by two days of NTT IndyCar Series’ racing. Both day’s races are also bookended by big name music concerts.
Stuart International Speedway - Stuart
Discover more dirt track excitement at the Stuart International Speedway, where fans enjoy weekly IMCA-sanctioned races in Stuart. The season starts in April and runs through September, including multi-day races like the Fever Heat 100.
Hamilton County Speedway - Webster City
The oldest speedway in the state, the Hamilton County Speedway in Webster City is a 1/2- mile oval dirt track that has been thrilling families since 1910. It boasts weekly racing events, IMCA-sanctioned division races and special events and invitationals throughout the year.
Bonus: National Sprint Car Hall of Fame & Museum
Recognized as the only museum in the world dedicated to the history of sprint car racing, this Knoxville staple has a mission of promoting the future and preserving the past of this unique racing sport. Opened in 1991, the museum showcases up to 35 open-wheel race cars on display alongside a variety of ever-changing exhibits highlighting the sport, the growth of the Knoxville raceway and its top competitors.
