Biking & Trails

Hit the Trails

With nearly 2,500 miles of beautifully paved trails across the state, Iowa is branded as the World Capital of Trails. Grab your bike and explore the Raccoon River Valley, Wabash Trace, Iowa City and Cedar Valley trails, which wind through charming communities and main street districts, rolling hills and native prairies.

Experience Iowa's stunning fall colors from the trails at Backbone and Waubonsie State Park or Yellow River State Forest; or see Iowa from the water and grab a kayak or inflatable tube to enjoy a relaxing afternoon on some of the state's best water trails.

Be sure to keep an eye on the DNR's fall color report to find the best fall views.
