The River Campground, situated in the heart of Whiterock Valley, is a perfect access point for over 40 miles of trails. The campground sits along a bend of the Middle Raccoon River, amid gorgeous sandstone outcroppings and our resident cliff swallow colony. This particular bluff, from which Whiterock derives its name, is the largest vertical outcrop of Cretaceous Dakota Sandstone in the Midwest. Several excellent fishing ponds, trailheads, and a nearby abandoned 1800s log cabin are within hiking distance. Seven campsites, a tent, a camper, and a horse trailer are accessible.
