Rapid Speedway

Show Contact Information +
Rapid Speedway in Rock Rapids, Iowa, is a dirt-track racing treasure with roots stretching back to the early 1900s. Originally hosting harness races, it evolved into a high-octane hub for stock car action and community excitement. Located at the Lyon County Fairgrounds, the track has long been a Friday night favorite for fans across northwest Iowa and beyond. But in 2024, disaster struck—massive flooding forced the track to shut down, canceling most of the season and damaging key infrastructure, including the beloved grandstands. Thanks to incredible community support and tireless work by promoters Darrin and Michelle Korthals, Rapid Speedway roared back to life in 2025. The track was rebuilt, the racing surface reconditioned, and—most notably—the grandstands were completely reconstructed, offering fans a safer, more comfortable place to cheer on their favorite drivers. Now fully revived, Rapid Speedway is once again home to thrilling USRA Stock Cars, B-Mods, Hobby Stocks, and more. With its rich history, fresh upgrades, and unbeatable energy, it’s not just a racetrack—it’s a Rock Rapids tradition.
