Pioneer Ridge Nature Area & Center

Located in the beautiful rolling hills of southern Wapello County, the Pioneer Ridge Nature Area and Nature Center are the headquarters of the Wapello County Conservation Board. The Pioneer Ridge Nature Center is the core of our environmental education program. Visit the nature center during open hours for a self-guided tour or sign up for one of our many public programs or youth camps! Learn about the plants and animals that call Wapello County home and say hi to one of our many ambassador animals! Enjoy the views of Pioneer Ridge Nature Area by hiking, biking, or horseback riding on one of our 13 miles of trail. This 995-acre nature preserve is also home to our campground, cabins and shelters.
