Pictured Rocks

Show Contact Information +
Just 5 miles south of Monticello, this 726-acre wildlife management area can be found along the banks of the Maquoketa River. It is named for the steep limestone bluffs that enclose the narrow river valley. The limestone bluffs make it a popular destination for rock climbers. The river is enjoyed by anglers, including smallmouth bass fisherman. There is a canoe access, shelter and parking for paddlers. Woodland wildflowers and morel mushrooms draw outdoor enthusiasts and hikers in the spring. Turkey and deer hunters share and enjoy this public wildlife management area seasonally.
