New Market Area Museum

The New Market Area Museum is housed in the former elementary school, built in 1960. The elementary school closed in 2008 and as of 2015 the use of the building was obtained by the New Market Historical Society. Through generous donations and many hours by volunteers the building has since been remodeled and is now home to the New Market Area Museum. Each of the classrooms, Kindergarten thru 6th Grade were restored and now contain a themed room of displays and interests to the New Market area. These themes are Toy and Tech, Home Sweet Home, New Market Ave., Miner Alumni Blvd., Country Lane, His/Her World, Just More and the hallway is also lined with many interesting displays. The museum is open June-November, Tuesdays 9 to 12 and Sundays 2 to 4 and July 4th or call 712-370-5108 or 712-370-7858 for an appointment to tour the museum.
