Mikkelson Park - Home of the Wooden Wonderland!

Located on the east side of New Hampton, Mikkelson Park is the community’s largest and most popular outdoor gathering space. This expansive park features something for everyone—from a unique wooden playground, rocket slide and scenic walking trails to athletic fields, a disc golf course, skateboard park, and courts for tennis, pickleball, basketball, and sand volleyball. Families will enjoy the “Wooden Wonderland” play area, splash pad, and seasonal aquatic center, while visitors looking to relax can take advantage of shaded picnic shelters, open green space, and peaceful surroundings. Mikkelson Park also serves as a hub for community events throughout the year, including the popular Heartland Days celebration and a festive holiday light display that draws visitors from across the region. The City of New Hampton Campground is also located within Mikkelson Park.
