Kanesville Memorial & Visitor Center

Memorial near the site where Brigham Young was sustained president by the members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in 1846. Admission is free. The gardens invite visitors to walk around the small memorial to read wayside signs about the Mormon pioneers who settled briefly in the area before moving on to the Great Salt Lake Valley. They had fled religious persecution in Illinois and were seeking a safe harbor in the West, in places that were at the time outside of the United States. They went on to settle more than 350 towns and cities in the intermountain west, establishing Utah.
