The Lexington Inn was established in 1856 as a stage coach stop for the town of Lexington, Iowa. The historic 2-story brick and mortar home remains the only structure from the once thriving village. As business slowly shifted to nearby Bedford in the late 1800’s, Lexington became a ghost town. Aside from the nearby cemetery, what remained of the town site was turned into farmland. Located just 5 miles outside of Bedford, the property has been recently refurbished into an attractive and comfortable inn, retaining the charm and distinction of years past, while providing the comforts and amenities of today. The Lexington Inn is perfect for a family summer get away located within walking distance of the Lake of Three Fires, one of Iowa’s State Parks, or less then 10 minutes from downtown Bedford and within 30 minutes of Maryville, MO, Corning, IA, or Clarinda, IA.
