Heart of Iowa Nature Trail - Maxwell Trailhead

Maxwell provides two access points to the Heart of Iowa Nature Trail: The western entry begins approximately 0.10 miles north of Highway 210 on Army Post Road, while the eastern entry can be found at Legion Park, near 600 First Street. Shaded by mature cottonwoods and lined with prairie plants, the Maxwell section offers a serene rural setting for users. *The recently paved Heart of Iowa Nature Trail stretches 21 miles from Slater, where it meets the famous High Trestle Trail, eastward 21 miles through Huxley, Cambridge, Maxwell and into Collins on the east. Enjoy expansive nature views, prairie remnants, woodlands and Iowa farmland in "The Heart of Iowa."
