Heart of Iowa Nature Trail - Huxley Trailhead

Found in Railroad Park at Railway and South Main Street, just 3.5 blocks west of Highway 69 on East First Street, the Huxley Trailhead offers easy access to the Heart of Iowa Nature Trail from within the city. With restrooms and a drinking fountain, this developed trailhead is a popular entry point for cyclists and walkers. This trailhead makes a great launch point for outings, with shaded areas, benches, and a close proximity to the Monarch Highway (I-35). The recently paved Heart of Iowa Nature Trail stretches 21 miles from Slater, where it meets the famous High Trestle Trail, eastward 21 miles through Huxley, Cambridge, Maxwell and into Collins on the east. Enjoy expansive nature views, prairie remnants, woodlands and Iowa farmland in "The Heart of Iowa."
