Heart of Iowa Nature Trail - Collins Trailhead

The Collins Trailhead is located at 105 Railway Street, the intersection of Railway Street and 2nd Avenue. This Trailhead includes a designated parking lot and bathroom facilities. This portion of the trail travels through early successional woodlands and prairie, making it a beautiful spot for hiking, and nature viewing. Collins also houses several eating and drinking establishments, making it a great lunch stop. *The recently paved Heart of Iowa Nature Trail stretches 21 miles from Slater, where it meets the famous High Trestle Trail, eastward 21 miles through Huxley, Cambridge, Maxwell and into Collins on the east. Enjoy expansive nature views, prairie remnants, woodlands and Iowa farmland in "The Heart of Iowa."
