Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the Drake Public Library, built in 1903, features an exquisite stained glass dome and unique glass floor feature. Following a 2018 renovation, the bright and airy space includes children's section, free computers and wi-fi, meeting rooms as well as book, audiobook and video rentals for local residents.

The Drake Public Library has been serving the citizens of Appanoose County for well over 100 years. The building contract, dated July 2, 1901, was awarded to J.W. Sanderson of Burlington at the bid price of $23,521. The library was designed by E.C. Eastman and dedicated on January 15, 1903.
