Caldwell Park

Show Contact Information +
Caldwell Park is a 62-acre area. The area houses the business offices of the Mahaska County Conservation Board (MCCB) and is the location of the Environmental Learning Center (ELC). Visitors are welcome to participate in the educational programs offered by MCCB or just view the many displays in the building. Visitors can also enjoy a picnic at the tables provided outside the lower level of the building or hike the various trails the area provides. Caldwell Park is also the site of the Mahaska County Freedom Rock. The rock was completed in 2015 by artist Ray "Bubba" Sorenson II. The murals are a tribute to the veterans of Mahaska County. Spring Creek divides the property with a natural wetland and a remnant prairie providing a great place to explore. The Mahaska County Recreation Foundation Trail also intersect the property. Recently added to Caldwell Park is an 18-hole disc golf course. No matter what your pleasure, completing 18 holes of disc golf, walking or biking the trail, or just exploring the wilderness, Caldwell Park has much to offer.
