The African American Historical & Cultural Museum is dedicated to preserving, celebrating, and sharing the history and cultural contributions of African Americans in Waterloo, Black Hawk County, and throughout Iowa. Through permanent and rotating exhibits, visitors explore the Great Migration, the Illinois Central Railroad, Waterloo's historic Black Triangle, African American military service, civil rights, local leaders, educators, entrepreneurs, churches, and community organizations that helped shape the Cedar Valley. The museum features photographs, artifacts, documents, and personal collections that bring these stories to life while fostering meaningful conversations about history, culture, and social progress. Through educational programs, guided tours, and community partnerships, we inspire visitors of all ages to connect with Iowa's diverse history. As a volunteer led organization, we continue to expand our collections and develop new exhibits. Learn more at www.aahcmuseum.org.
