Step into History. Stay in the Story.
The 607 Guest House is a vintage vacation home designed to be an experience, not just a place to sleep. Built in 1867—the same year the 1st railroad tracks were laid in Iowa—this 150+ year home was once owned by railroad tycoon John Insley Blair & remains deeply connected to Boone’s railroading legacy.
Today, the home blends historic character with thoughtful comforts. As you arrive, you’re greeted by the large, open 1800s front porch, a welcoming space made for relaxing. Whether you’re sipping lemonade, sharing stories or enjoying a quiet moment, the porch invites you to create your own Boone experience.
Inside, original heart pine floors, restored wood windows with working weights & pulleys and preserved leaded glass panes showcase the craftsmanship of the past, while features like heated bathroom floors & zoned central air conditioning system ensure comfort all year.
Train, Iowa & Midwest-inspired artwork & décor continue the story throughout the home. Enjoy 3 themed bedrooms—Kate Shelley Room, Eisenhower Room & Prairie Rose Room—each offering its own charm.
Relax in the spacious living room or gather around the large dining table for meals or games. The full-size kitchen is stocked with cookware, coffee bar & simple breakfast favorites to help you feel right at home.
Perfectly located within walking distance to downtown Boone & just a short drive to Ames.
Where you stay should be part of your destination—at the 607 Guest House, it is.
