Bob Kerrey Pedestrian Bridge

Spanning the Missouri River, North America's longest river, the Bob Kerrey Pedestrian Bridge connects Council Bluffs, Iowa, and Omaha, Nebraska. Opened on September 28, 2008, the 3,000-foot-long, 15-foot-wide bridge was the first pedestrian bridge built to connect two states and remains one of the region's most recognizable landmarks. The bridge serves as a gateway to more than 150 miles of interconnected metro-area trails and offers spectacular views of the Missouri River, downtown Omaha, and the surrounding riverfront. Visitors can walk, run, or bike across the span and take part in the popular tradition of "bobbing"—posing in two states at the same time. On the Iowa side, the bridge connects directly to Tom Hanafan River's Edge Park, home to major community events, Belles' Play Garden, and the River's Edge Pavilion, whose rooftop observation deck provides one of the metro's premier views of the Omaha skyline.
