Shannon City

Shannon City, located approximately 17 miles southeast of Creston, was surveyed by the Great Western Chicago Railway in 1887 as a possible stop and platted a year later.  At its peak in the early 1900s, Shannon City boasted four churches, two banks, a number of other shops and stores, and a population of nearly 400.

Currently, the population in Shannon City is around 74.   A post office is located in Shannon City, and Backroads Junk, an occasional market with refinished furniture and home décor, is located in the area.
