Nestled between the east and west forks of the Des Moines River, Humboldt is a growing city of 4,792 residents in North Central Iowa, located in Humboldt County. The neighboring cities of Fort Dodge and Algona are just 20 minutes away.

Humboldt has a thriving industrial and business community. A vibrant downtown is the center of attention in Humboldt, as the result of a recent and extensive improvement project. The Humboldt County Development Association is organized to recruit, retain, and grow the industry in the area, and is a great resource for existing business.

Recreation opportunities abound in Humboldt and the surrounding area! There is something for everyone to enjoy with numerous parks, trails, an exceptional aquatic center, and a 70,000 square-foot state of the art recreation center. The Recreation Department offers a wide variety of programs throughout the year.

The Humboldt Family Aquatic Center offers endless entertainment for the entire family in the summer. The facility has high and low diving boards, two large slides, lap swimming lanes, and a zero-entry end with a kid-friendly feature.

The 70,000 square-foot Humboldt Recreation Center is open for all to enjoy. The facility features a 200-meter indoor track, two full length basketball courts, three pickleball courts, a large weight room, racquetball courts, and dedicated rooms for dance/yoga, cross-fit, and spin classes.

Another gem in Humboldt is the beautiful Carnegie Humboldt Public Library built in 1908 in the heart of the city. The large windows give the area an openness that beckons readers to sit and enjoy the many adventures within the books, periodicals and other media contained within the building.

A historic influence on the town is the famous wrestler, Frank Gotch. With many areas of interest, including one at his old training camp at Bicknell Park stands a bronze statue of Gotch and historic information at the Humboldt County Historical Association.
