Have lunch at one of our bistros, visit with local artists during Fairfield 1st Fridays, bike through wetlands and prairies along the Fairfield Loop Trail, experience the magic of a Broadway-inspired show at the Sondheim Center, and discover what makes Fairfield unique.
Year-round family fun at the 1st Fridays events and other festivals, abundant recreation, sustainable living, international cuisine, and an entrepreneurial spirit. Fairfield’s eclectic scene includes the world's premier Ayurvedic Health Spa, more restaurants per capita than San Francisco, and numerous art galleries and venues. 
Fairfield's Farmers Market is a popular and festive summer event where fresh local produce catches the eye in every direction. All the items sold at the Farmers market are homegrown and produced right here in Jefferson County.  Located in Howard Park, which is close to the Fairfield Arts and Convention Center, the Farmers Market begins the first Saturday of May and continues until the last Saturday of October. The park offers a well-equipped playground for the kids to run around while adults can handpick goodies.

The Farmers Market is open  Saturdays, May through October. 8 am to 1 pm

The Fairfield Arts & Convention Center provides a variety of weekly entertainment. The Sondheim Center for the Performing Arts, located inside the Convention Center, features the best of music, comedy, dance, and theater of national touring performances.
 
The Maharishi Vedic Observatory, a one and one-half acre open-air observatory of masonry sundials, is unique in the world for its ability to display in one compact form the whole structure of the universe along with all the movements of the sun, the planets, and the stars.
 
ICON Gallery features museum-quality contemporary artists and is an integral part of the cultural life of the Fairfield and Eastern Iowa art scene. In addition to group and individual shows, ICON conducts workshops and lectures.
