Arispe
Arispe, named for an American Indian tribe, is located 6 miles south of Afton on Hwy 169. Arispe was established in 1887 when the Chicago, St. Paul, and Minneapolis Railroad Company built its track through Union County. The town remained little more than a store or two and several homes for much of the next decade. In 1897, an additional 65 acres were purchased and added to the town. During the next 3 years, a hardware store, a general store, a drug store, a Methodist church, and a bank were all constructed along with a number of new homes.
Today, the town is smaller than it was in 1910, but it is still incorporated, with the park and Methodist Church as centerpieces.
Arispe is home to steel fabricator BSM Enterprises, founded in 2013, and the popular family restaurant, Roadside Bar & Grill. The Arispe Park is the home of annual community activities for the family including the annual Easter Egg Hunt.
