Tornado Alley Race - 5k, 10k and 1-Mile

Join the Algona Recreation Department for a 40+ year tradition! This fall race, held on the morning of Algona's Band Day Festival, offers a 5k walk or run, 10k run and 1-mile fun run. Tornado Alley is held on the first Saturday in October. Race packets may be picked up at Algona City Hall from on the morning of race day, beginning at 7:30 a.m. The route begins and ends at Algona City Hall for all distances. Trophies for overall male and female champions in each race. Medals to the top 3 in each division. All who participate receive a t-shirt (sign up by early September to guarantee a t-shirt on race day) and are entered into a prize drawing after the race. Racers are invited to stay and enjoy the Algona Band Day Festival. The 1 p.m. parade downtown features multiple bands and floats, followed by the 5:30 p.m. band field competition.
