FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE The Slaughterhouse Haunted Attraction Celebrates Its 15th Year with Its Biggest Season Yet More than $150,000 in new sets, props and Halloween overload will transform the downtown Des Moines attraction for 2026 DES MOINES, Iowa — July 12, 2026 — The Slaughterhouse Haunted Attraction is preparing to celebrate its 15th year with its largest and most ambitious season to date. Located beneath downtown Des Moines, The Slaughterhouse will return this fall with more than $150,000 invested in new sets, props, effects and Halloween overload, creating an expanded experience filled with immersive environments, original characters and relentless live scares. “This is the biggest year The Slaughterhouse has ever attempted,” said Ian Von Slaughter, Show Director of The Slaughterhouse. “For our 15th year, we wanted to deliver more than a few changes. We are rebuilding, expanding and adding new layers throughout the attraction so returning guests will feel like they are entering an entirely new nightmare.” The 2026 season will feature newly developed scenes, theatrical characters, large-scale scenic installations and updated effects designed to immerse guests more deeply in the world of The Slaughterhouse. Among the new experiences are The Death Spiral and The Sludge, two original scenes created to draw visitors deeper into the attraction’s industrial nightmare.
