Older, Wiser, Livelier, Souls Matchstick Marvels Museum Thursday, May 21 Osborne Nature Center Reservations Required Osborne’s Next Older, Wiser, Livelier, Souls (OWLS) program will be on Thursday, May 21st. May’s destination will be a trip to the Matchstick Marvels Museum in Gladbrook, Iowa. Please meet at Osborne Park at 9:00 to carpool to the site. Join us for a fun trip to the Matchstick Museum to see the amazing and incredibly detailed sculptures Patrick Acton has created out of nearly 10 million wooden matchsticks. Simply amazing, many of his sculptures have been commissioned by Ripley’s Believe It or Not. Patrick was born in Greene County, Iowa, and graduated from the University of Northern Iowa. He has been building matchstick models for 5 decades and in 2012 he retired to become a full-time matchstick artist. Join us the 3rd Thursday of each month, March through November, for O.W.L.S., Older Wiser Livelier Souls. Each month will feature a new destination, so join us as we explore some of the interesting places Iowa has to offer. The Osborne Center is located on Highway 13, ten miles north of Strawberry Point or five miles south of Elkader. The center is open from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. daily, noon-4:00 on Sunday.
