Monarch Magic

Families are invited to celebrate the incredible world of monarch butterflies and other pollinators at Monarch Magic, a free, family-friendly event hosted by Prairie Rivers of Iowa. This interactive event offers hands-on activities, educational experiences, and opportunities to help protect pollinators. Our activities include pollinator-themed crafts, an obstacle course, temporary tattoos, and educational displays from local conservation organizations. Whether you're learning about native bees for the first time or you're already passionate about pollinators, Monarch Magic has something for everyone. An event highlight is the community BioBlitz, where participants can become citizen scientists by documenting insects using the free iNaturalist app. These observations contribute data that helps researchers better understand and protect our ecosystems. Pollinators face growing challenges like habitat loss, pesticide use, and climate change. By creating pollinator-friendly spaces and learning about native plants, we can make a meaningful difference right in our own backyards. Monarch Magic aims to inspire people of all ages to take action. Attendees will also have the chance to support Prairie Rivers of Iowa's conservation and education programs. Every dollar donated during the event earns one ticket for a chance to win one of several pollinator prizes!
