On Sunday, March 1, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. in the Betty Strong Encounter Center auditorium, Dr. Scott Culpepper will present a fascinating look at Legacies of Resistance and Resilience in Occupied France. Admission is free, but freewill donations encouraged. The fall of France in 1940 created a challenging situation for citizens now living under a collaborationist government and, in some places, direct Nazi control. Many French citizens risked their lives to challenge Nazi control of France in large and small ways, contributing to the overall allied effort to liberate Western Europe. Dr. Scott Culpepper will delve into this history that inspired his novel The Demonologists' Legacy by illustrating life under the Vichy regime and featuring selected stories of people who joined the resistance against it. He will be signing copies of his novels on Saturday, February 28 at Barnes & Noble from 1-4, and audience members can also bring their copies to be signed at the Encounter Center after the presentation.
