Free Second Saturday and Family Activities

Vesterheim offers free museum admission from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. with family activities from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on the second Saturday of the month. Immigrants from around the world have brought their food traditions with them to the United States. In celebration of America’s 250th birthday, sample some tasty treats and make an artful mock smørbrød, or open-face Scandinavian sandwich, using recyclables and your imagination. Children’s books about immigrant contributions to the U.S. will be available free for visitors to take home. In addition, Tyler Hendrickson will play Hardanger fiddle music! Special exhibits listed here. There’s always something new. All activities and books this month are generously sponsored by the Oneota Valley Literary Foundation.
