Battle of the Brushes

Join the Ottumwa Area Arts Council for Battle of the Brushes! Normally watching paint dry isn’t exciting. . . But this is a fierce and fun competition to view. Here's how it works: Our line-up of amazing artists will have 100 minutes to paint a canvas related to a theme revealed at the beginning of the event. Attendees can check out the artists' progress while they race against the clock! Judges will review the works and declare a winner! Paintings will then be live auctioned, with half the proceeds going to the Ottumwa Area Arts Council and half to each artist. Dessert auction during the event will support the Ottumwa Area Arts Council. Food, beer, and wine available for purchase throughout the event. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and the action starts at 7:00 p.m. Purchase advance tickets for $5 at the Hotel Ottumwa front desk or $10 at the door. Children 10 and under free.
