BaconTown returns to Ottumwa's Bridge View Center on November 14, bringing back one of the community's favorite celebrations of all things bacon. As the nation's leading producer of bacon, there's no better place than Ottumwa to honor this iconic food. The Bridge View Center is transformed into a vibrant downtown streetscape using more than 13,000 square feet of scenic backdrops. Local vendors line the "streets" with storefront-style displays, serving up an incredible variety of bacon-inspired dishes and treats. It's the perfect opportunity to sample the creative ways area chefs incorporate bacon into their favorite recipes. BaconTown is fun for the whole family. Kids can enjoy a dedicated Kids Zone featuring games, rides, face painting, and inflatable attractions, while adults can relax with live music from The Mondeau Dukes, catch college football games on the giant video board, and enjoy a variety of beverages, including water, soda, and adult refreshments. Want to get a head start on the bacon? Register for the Bacon Run and choose from a 5-mile, 5K, or 1-mile event. All runners receive early access to the festival, giving them first crack at all the bacon-filled deliciousness. And since it is close to Veterans Day, JBS is providing Veterans even more bacon – giving them a free package of bacon to take home (while supplies last)
