America 250 Salute to the Flag on Flag Day

The Marion Heritage Center is hosting the America 250 Salute to the Flag Celebration June 14 on the Green Block affront the museum at 590 10th Street in Marion. The Marion Community Band will perform a concert of patriotic music as a Parade of Flags tells the history of the flags of the Revolutionary War and the American Civil War. A Civil War Re-enactment shall also be conducted with an encampment of Iowa regiments and others who invite the public into their camps to learn of life as a soldier during the War Between the States as they prepare for the afternoon's skirmish. The encampment opens at 10:00 a.m., with skirmish scheduled for 1:00 p.m. and Patriotic Concert including Parade of Flags, at 2:00 p.m. The event is free and open to the public.
