It’s time to turn up the volume and celebrate the heart and soul of our great state—Iowa! The theme for the 87th North Iowa Band Festival is "Bands, Birthdays & Brass,” where every milestone shines and every story deserve a spotlight. From legendary bands marking unforgettable moments to visionary brands and individuals driving innovation and growth, we’re honoring the people and passions that have shaped industries, communities, and culture. The North Iowa Band Festival is the largest free marching band competition in the Midwest. The celebration begins on Thursday with performances by the John Adams Middle School Band & the Mason City Municipal Band. On Friday – the North Iowa Band Festival Market begins and runs through Sunday. Enjoy entertainment, carnival rides & shopping, all right in Central Park! Performing on Friday is the Mason City High School Orchestra, Mason City High School Jazz Band, and the return of BYOBrass! Saturday is the Annual Stu Nevermann Memorial Run at the Mason City Family Aquatic Center & the iconic Festival Parade which starts promptly at 10 a.m. on North Pennsylvania Avenue. Taking the Main Stage will be Kris Karr, Woodzen, and then GenX Jukebox! On Sunday, the Market is still going on & entertainment is TBD. Plan on attending one day or maybe every day!
