Show Contact Information +
This historical marker was dedicated in 2008 at the location of The Dexfield Amusement Park, the first and largest in the state, which opened in 1915. Crowds of up to 4,000 would swim, roller skate, dance, canoe, picnic, watch baseball, ride the ferris wheel or merry-go-round, camp, and watch movies. It closed in 1928. On July 24, 1933, it was also the site of the Bonnie & Clyde shootout. During the shootout, Buck and Blanche Barrow were captured. Bonnie, Clyde and teenager W. D. Jones escaped.
