Red Cedar Chamber Music presents Cultural Passport Saturday, March 15 at 7 p.m. at the James Theater, Iowa City Tickets are $30, students $15 Miera Kim, violin Carey Bostian, cello Red Cedar is your ticket to travel! Our third concert program of commissioned works inspired by folk music from around the world takes you to Finland, Korea, Vietnam, Mexico, and Iran. Composers Kari Juusela, Jean Ahn, Dylan Tr?n, J. Andrés Ballesteros, and Kian Ravaei have each contributed a wonderful new work. In addition to five world premieres, the program includes a reprise of Scottish Folk Song Suite (2022) by Peter Bloesch as well as Harvey Sollberger’s Suite of Czech Folk Songs (2006), which was the inspiration for this project. In addition, we present a set of violin duets by Bartók as well as Jay Ungar’s incredibly popular Ashokan Farewell arranged by Michael Kimber.
