Join us for this free event and explore what a science research aircraft looks like on the inside! See the instruments used to collect information on the atmosphere and talk to scientists, engineers, and pilots on the a dynamic field research project to study atmospheric gravity waves. This event is part of the Convective Gravity Waves in the Stratosphere (CGWaveS) project. CGWaveS is an atmospheric research project to study gravity waves and is funded by the U.S.National Science Foundation (NSF) and supported by the NSF National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR). The project is led by Principal Investigators from the University of Miami, FL and GATS Inc., CO. CGWaveS data will be obtained by the NSF/NCAR HIAPER Gulfstream V aircraft from a series of research flights over the U.S. Midwest, based in Des Moines, IA, between May and June 2025.
