Naturally when you think of Mother’s Day, you think of an Iron Pour. Craft a one-of-a-kind gift for a special person in your life or bring the family to experience this powerful outdoor art-making event. Tamsie Ringler and a team of local and visiting artists melt iron to 2800° and cast sculptures in DuMA’s parking lot. Twenty relief molds will be available for visitors to carve on a first-come, first-served basis, beginning at 11 am, and the pouring will begin at noon. The Mother’s Day Weekend Iron Pour is a rare chance to see molten iron—and ancient practices—in action. Admission is free and the event will be held light rain or shine in the parking lot of the Dubuque Museum of Art, 701 Locust Street, Dubuque, IA. Participating artists: Steve Banks, IA James Cole, IL Jerod Cox, IA Chris Frommelt, IA Bayani Genereaux, MN Erin Genereaux, MN Veronica Glidden, WI Emma Happ Olson, IA Cate Koetz, IA Marc La Pointe, WA Kelly Ludeking, IA Tim Olson, IA Anna Orbovich, MN Terry Rathje, IA Tamsie Ringler, IA Support is provided by the National Endowment for the Arts and the Iowa Arts Council, which exists within the Iowa Economic Development Authority and the Starseed Foundation.
