Whiterock Conservancy offers monarch Tagging! Whiterock Conservancy is participating in the Monarch Watch tagging program and needs your help capturing Monarch Butterflies to tag! Join Whiterock on September 6th from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and investigate the life cycle of a Monarch Butterfly, discover how to identify male and female Monarchs, study Monarch migration, and learn how to tag Monarchs on their journey south to central Mexico. Attend this FREE public program to explore the life of a Monarch Butterfly. Whiterock will have a limited number of butterfly nets to catch your own butterfly for this family-friendly event! Please bring a butterfly net if you have one! Meet at the Bur Oak Visitor Center, 1436 Hwy 141, just east of Coon Rapids, Iowa 50058 which offers unique prairie walks and butterfly habitat. A great activity for all ages! Please wear long pants even it is hot. Tennis shoes/socks, sunscreen, hats, and a water bottle are all recommended.
