Live Music: Paul Weitzel

Fat Hill Brewing welcomes Paul Weitzel to the taproom on Saturday, July 22nd at 7 p.m.! Paul Weitzel has been singing, playing, and writing songs since he got tired of being a miserable 30-something adult in the mid 90’s. At first he played to Mission District transplants in San Francisco with The Nutone Wranglers, White Star Dairy, Jeffrey Luck Lucas, Applejack Walroth and Dick Deluxe. When relocated back home to Mason City, Paul started The Hats around 2009 or so with Jeremy and Dan True. The Hats played just about everywhere around here for more than a decade and also released the album “Middle of My Countryside”, which was one of IPR’s favorite Iowa releases for 2020. This solo show will feature some of Paul’s favorite songwriters (Bob Dylan, John Prine, Gillian Welch, Jason Isbell, Tom Waits) with some originals thrown in for good measure. Be prepared for a few special guests — Paul says he is going to “see if I can convince a local yokel to join me for a song or two.” Free admission. While at Fat Hill Brewing, enjoy Smokin' Mana's Food Truck! Smokin' Mana's will be slinging up a delicious menu somewhere near the taproom!
