Step onto the court for one of the most unique and historic sporting events in the country—the Hoover-Ball National Championship Tournament, held annually during Hoover’s Hometown Days in West Branch, Iowa! Invented in 1928 by President Herbert Hoover’s personal physician, Joel T. Boone, Hoover-Ball was designed to keep the 31st President in shape. A mash-up of tennis and volleyball, the game uses a 4- or 6-pound medicine ball and an 8-foot net, with teams of up to five players scoring just like tennis. President Hoover and his staff played nearly every morning on the White House lawn, and today, the tradition lives on in the President’s birthplace. Now embraced by athletes and CrossFitters nationwide, Hoover-Ball is fast-paced, physically demanding, and undeniably fun. Whether you're competing for the title or cheering from the sidelines, you won't want to miss this energetic tribute to presidential fitness and small-town pride. Free to watch, open to all skill levels to enter. Registration details and full rules available at hooverdays.org.
