7:00 p.m. performance followed by a small reception with light refreshments Experience the hauntingly beautiful sound of Norway’s national folk instrument, the Hardanger fiddle (“hardingfele”), in a special evening with Eden Ehm, one of North America’s foremost young Hardanger fiddlers. The Hardanger fiddle is known for its ornate inlay, dragon-shaped scrolls, and sympathetic strings that create a shimmering resonance. Its sound is deeply tied to the landscapes and traditions of Norway. Eden brings it to life with a program of traditional dance tunes, lyrical folk melodies, and connections to classical and contemporary music. A Decorah, Iowa native, Eden began as principal violinist with the Decorah Nordic Dancers’ Orchestra and later studied Hardanger fiddle with Andrea Een at St. Olaf College, the only U.S. college offering instruction in the instrument. She has since performed across the U.S. and abroad, including for King Harald and Queen Sonja of Norway. Her dedication has earned her the Balchen-Hegge Scholarship and leadership roles in the Hardanger Fiddle Association of America. In 2025, she studied in Norway at the Rauland International Hardingfele Intensive and Vinterfestival with master tradition-bearers. The evening celebrates Norwegian culture, heritage, and the timeless resonance of this remarkable instrument.
