Chris Bennett, a much beloved Iowa sculptor from Keosauqua, is unveiling a life-size sculpture of Karl Ungurean at the end of July in Davenport as part of the festivities for the 50th anniversary of the Quad-City Times Bix 7 race. Mr. Bennett’s sculptures can be found across Iowa and the Midwest. His work includes over 60 public commissions and numerous private commissions. Educated at the University of Iowa, Mr. Bennett has over 40 years of experience creating memorial artwork in bronze, ceramics, welded steel, and stone. Some of his more notable sculptures and designed environments include the bronze statue of the Drake Bulldog Mascot, the I-29 Rest Stop Ancient Indigenous Tribes Project, and the Ames War Memorial.
