And Gladly Teach: The Museum as a Classroom celebrates the 25th anniversary of Grinnell College Museum of Art by showcasing how its collection serves as a catalyst for teaching. Each year, Grinnell College faculty, staff, and students request nearly 2,000 objects from the Museum’s collection for use in discussion, research, writing, art making, or exhibition projects. And Gladly Teach features works of art, ranging from ancient to contemporary, that have been requested for classes this semester, as well as groups of objects which have inspired exhibitions curated by students. Many of the works from these exhibitions are featured, including: photographs of Native Americans by Edward Curtis; the complete set of 80 prints in Francisco Goya’s The Disasters of War; a large group of portraits by German Expressionist printmakers; and series of prints by Jacob Lawrence and Kara Walker. And Gladly Teach: The Museum as a Classroom continues through December 15.
