Old O’Brien Glacial Trail

The Little Sioux River winds through hills of loess soil, passing historic log cabins and productive 21st century farms. Whether splashing over Linn Grove Dam or cutting through prairie and meadow, the river and its scenic valley offer a haven for wildlife and numerous opportunities for outdoor recreation. Paddle a canoe along the Inkpaduta Canoe Trail, named after the fearsome chief. Visit state or county parks for camping, fishing and boating. And don’t miss a chance to explore local history museums for a glimpse into the lives of those who settled this northwest Iowa territory.

Pick up the Old O’Brien Glacial Trail southeast of Spencer on Highway 10 near Peterson. Follow the signs south on M36 to Linn Grove, west on C16, and north on M12 to Sutherland.
