Buchanan Co. Historical Society announces the season opening of the Wapsipinicon Mill Museum for the tourist season.
The "Farmers Market" will again be open at the Wapsipinicon Mill. This structured Farmers Market will be every Saturday morning 8 a.m. to noon beginning May 18.
The mill still resides in its original location and surrounded by several eateries and just over the bridge from Historic Downtown Independence. Step back in time and relive the experience of pioneer grist milling.
Chili will also be served 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. (or until gone) with a free will donation at the door. Many new displays including the small town of "New Haven" (which the west side of the river was called). Handicap accessible cement ramp to the first floor and restrooms. Volunteer on duty. Donations accepted.
Open May 18 through Sept. 15 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. six days a week (closed Mondays).
