Start your day at Bogenrief Glass Blowing Studio (opens at 10 a.m.). Schedule a glass blowing class with Jesse, who will teach you how to create a unique paperweight, vase or bowl. Then, admire the works of art in the gallery and gift shop. Bogenrief ornaments are always a hit for birthday or holiday gifts.


Arts on Grand

Take a refreshing short walk through downtown Spencer and admire the 1930s Art Deco architecture on your way to Arts on Grand. The gallery features regularly rotating exhibits and admission is free. Items from local artisans are available in the gift shop.

Enjoy lunch downtown at El Parian, an authentic Mexican restaurant with quick service and reasonable prices. They're just across the street from Arts on Grand.


Clay County Heritage Center & Parker Museum
7 Grand Ave., Spencer

After lunch, visit these heritage museums where you can step back in time and learn the details about the first settlers in Clay County. You'll spend an hour or two browsing all of the exhibits. While at the museums, stop by the Clay County Visitor's Center and pick up additional brochures and get answers to any questions you have.


Spencer Public Library
21 E 3rd St., Spencer

Stop by the home of Dewey the Library Cat, made famous by the book Dewey: The Small-Town Library Cat Who Touched the World. Browse the library where Dewey changed lives and visit his gravesite.


See a Show
Check the schedules for Spencer Community Theatre and the Clay County Regional Events Center. Theatre shows are generally performed in October, December, February and April - see show dates on their website. The events center provides entertainment year-round - visit their website for an event schedule.
