Must Do's
Pella's architecture gives you the feeling of Holland, along with wooden shoes, delicate Dutch pastries, the musically animated Klokkenspel and the stunning Molengracht canal complete with a working drawbridge. Learn more about this community's Dutch heritage at the Pella Historical Society & Museums and see the tallest working grain windmill in the United States, admire the home of Pella's founder at the Scholte House Museum or tour the gorgeously remodeled Pella Opera House

Sample the flavors of Iowa at The Cellar Peanut Pub, which boasts 50 craft beers on tap, or stop by The Wijn House to take home a bottle of Iowa wine.

Outdoor Recreation & Exciting Eateries
Hop in the car and drive the short distance to Lake Red Rock to discover a wide array of outdoor adventures. Recognized as Iowa's largest reservoir, it's one of the best places in the state to enjoy a day on the water boating or kayaking/canoeing. For land lovers, grab your bike or walking shoes and hop on the Volksweg Trail, which connects Pella to the lake and follows the Des Moines River.

When you're hungry, head to Nederlanders to indulge in their gourmet hot dogs while competing in golf simulators. Or further embrace the area's Dutch roots with a visit to Ulrich's Meat Market, Opa's Deli or the Windmill Cafe. Then grab a sweet Dutch pastry from Jaarsma Bakery
