The Grout Museum District has partnered with Hawkeye Community College Professional Photography Department to create an exhibit titled "Portraits of Iowa." This exhibit shows Iowans through the lenses of 47 years of Hawkeye Community College trained professional photographers.
In the past 47 years the Hawkeye Photography program has provided thousands of students with a working knowledge of the industry in the fields of commercial, photojournalism and portraiture photography. Many of its alumni have gone on to produce award winning photographs. Over 40 juried images covering subjects from music to sports and farming to everyday life in Iowa will be on display. Created by a small number of students, alumni and the dedicated instructors, visitors will understand why the Hawkeye Professional Photography program has earned a reputation as one of the best in the nation.
