Iowa Prairie Network and Polk County Conservation are sponsoring this Iowa Wildflower Month field trip. Thomas Rosburg of Drake University will lead us on this adventure. The public is welcome and encouraged to attend.
Meet at the Marsh at 10 a.m. and prepare to explore the area for two hours. This 81-acre wildlife area has been described as a "geological and ecological museum" because of its rare prairie pothole and sedge meadow.
It is located 5 miles northeast of Bondurant on Highway 65. A year-long survey at Engeldinger counted 314 species of plants, 19 species of mammals, 15 species of reptiles and amphibians, and 82 species of birds.
