On the first day, students will create a small basket and learn basic techniques. Participants will begin with this unique basket by laying out a square Cedar bark base and start the twining with Iris leaves. After the upset, they will work up the sides doing a continuous sprial with outer bark plaiting and Iris leaf twining. Then design options will be added such as building up one high side or changing materials for color variation. The finish includes a "ruff" of Cedar Bark fringe. Plant materials will be discussed. Approximate size: 4 - 5" tall by 3" diameter.
Students are encouraged to come back for the second and third days as they will focus on more challenging basketss for students who have some experience with weaving or who have taken the first day class.
8 a.m. to 4 p.m. $100 (includes materials).
