Spirit Knoll Field Trip

Saturday May 4, 2013 Spirit Knoll
Hwy. 12
Two miles north of Stone State Park
Sioux City

Spirit Knoll is in the process of becoming an Iowa State Preserve. Loess Hills Audubon Society & The Iowa Natural Heritage Foundation are co-sponsoring a field trip at 9 a.m. to Spirit Knoll, two miles north of Stone State Park on Hwy 12 led by INHF's Tim Sproul and local botanists. This area, recently acquired by INHF & IDNR, contains excellent Loess Hills prairie remnants and is near Iowa's largest fortified Mill Creek culture historic encampment.

Meet at the west entrance to Spirit Knoll. The field day will consist of a hike, moderate difficulty, of the Spirit Knoll and Burcham properties, exploring the spring flora and fauna.

This event is part of Iowa Wildflower Week which is coordinated by the Iowa Native Plant Society.
